I wasn't aware that India Cafe and Anar were the same place, so I'm sharing this review for both. It saddens me to write this. We've dined at Anar a few times and always enjoyed the food and service. The entrees were consistently delicious, full of flavor and spice. We've also ordered takeout several times without disappointment. However, today's experience was the complete opposite. The Chicken Irachi Puttu was interesting, but could not really figure out what was in it. The chicken shawarma platter tasted like Shop Rite Rotisserie chicken cooked to a leather like inedible consistency. If you want good shares check out Irvington Delight. Let?s gooo Anar/ India Cafe!! They give you the 2 year old menu for India cafe and start charging you Anar prices! The guy got upset when I Corrected him and refused to pay $20 extra. Dw! I still tipped him well!! I wasn?t being cheap but being real withthem!! His words ?we are not Printing any new menus right now but these are the prices (that he charged after the food)? Mangolassi not even fully filled, and charged $5-$6 idek!! Be careful!

This restaurant is not Anar. It is called India Cafe. While I was excited to try Anar, the restaurant I walked into, India Cafe was also good. The service was quite slow, I wanted to get dessert but it was getting too late. The food was great and I’d return, especially to try dessert. I had the malai kofta and saag paneer with a coconut naan and mango lassi. All fantastic. They have a place a few doors down for take out and delivery orders.
I had the worst dining experience imaginable. The food tasted like it had been taken directly from the freezer, and the chicken shish kebab was reminiscent of something you'd find in a supermarket's frozen aisle. The more I think about it, the more nauseated I feel. The frozen meals were overpriced, and I would have had a better meal from a food cart.
I went to this restaurant for lunch and got there at 11:45 AM, only to find the doors locked and no one answering the phone. I don't understand why they say they open at 11:30 AM if they're not actually prepared to welcome customers at that time.

Their chili chicken, fried rice, mutton pepper fry, fried chicken, and puri were all amazing! We specifically went to indulge in South Indian specialties, and it exceeded our expectations.
Kerala meals are fantastic. The fish curry and beef dishes are absolutely delicious!
