Ashoka South Side was a disappointment. I booked a table for Christmas Day with the promise of a glass of fizz on arrival, only to be offered a mocktail instead. It wasn't until I questioned this and showed my own copy of the menu that the promised fizz was granted. Two weeks before Christmas, we were asked to pay in full for our meal, but I was asked to pay in cash even though I preferred to use my card. On Christmas Day, despite enjoying the food, the restaurant had overbooked and took my dad's seat away, leaving us cramped on a couch against the wall. The food at Ashoka is nice, but usually lukewarm. I had to ask for my chicken to be reheated on Christmas Day. We received a voucher for £1...

I was last here a few years back (pre Covid) and it was then a reliable restaurant where you could expect fresh and decent Indian fare as well as a bit of banter from the friendly staff so it was something of a disappointment to return here this Sunday evening to find that things had regressed somewhat … We ordered the Himalayan Hotpot which was distinctly globby and tasted very much like it was sloppy reheats from a late night carry out. Does it contain MSG, it certainly tasted more Chinese than Indian? We also had the misfortune of ordering the chicken Karahi Bhoona which proved to be equally underwhelming and similarly globby lukewarm. It can best be described as re heated mung and not ev...

What was good: quality/taste of the food. What wasn’t good: we arrived at 4.50pm (because we’d young children with us) and waited over an hour and a half between ordering and receiving our mains. Well over an hours wait between starter and main course. Watching several tables arrive much later and receive their food before us we asked if it would be much longer. The staff were shocked, apologetic and thought we’d already eaten!! It meant the children had finished desserts and wanted to go home by the time our mains arrived. Not so much as a slight discount offered off a £70 bill for such a ridiculously lengthy delay, which was disappointing. A free drink or two which were only bought to pass...

First time in Ashoka Southside for several years, and had seen some mixed reviews. Came in for quick dinner with friends on a Friday evening (booked but probably could have got away without booking). Overall thought it was pretty good really. The decor has become a bit more hokey over the years since the last visit, but other than that it was more or less as I remembered. Service was friendly and punctual, food was tasty and decent sized portions, and there was a choice of draft beers (Cobra and Bombay Bicycle IPA). Price was also fair enough I thought. Really, nothing to complain about if you are looking for a good sit down Indian meal on the southside of Glasgow Reserva una mesa ahora

Although the exterior may seem unexciting, the inside of the restaurant boasts a fantastic atmosphere and delicious food. The staff are incredibly friendly and willing to engage in conversation. Despite having an extensive menu, the quality of the food remains top-notch and beautifully presented. The generous portion sizes may require you to take some leftovers home. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with excellent food, atmosphere, and staff. I highly recommend it.

Thought I would just get a portion of Pakora to take away..Ordered the Pakora at the restaurant and I literally just sat down when I was handed my takeaway...Now my eyebrows were raised that fresh Pakora could get made that quickly from fresh. Once home my suspicions were correct...the pakora was Luke warm and stodgy..Also must have been only 4/5 pieces for the price that was also not acceptable..Look forward to hearing there reply

We had dinner early this evening at the Ashoka Southside. Fabulous! The food was quite outstanding and all three of us had superb dishes. The Chicken Poori was certainly one of the nicest I’ve tasted and all three of our main dishes were excellent. My Lamb Lababdar was just a delight with beautifully cooked tended pieces of lamb in delicious sauce. Thanks so much for a real culinary treat this evening served by really nice people.

Pick up takeaway I have just purchased a takeaway from Ashoka Southside tonight and I am sorry to say it was the worst takeaway I have ever had! I ordered pilu rice, garlic Nan, vegetable pakora, korma and a Chasni and chips. When opening the rice I was mushy and slimy not edible at all!. The pakora was that over done that I could not eat it as was burnt. This was such a disappointment sorry Ashoka I will not be back! Reserva una mesa ahora

Lovely! Not such a nice location so wasn’t sure what to expect when we pulled up, but inside the decor is lovely, the service is extremely friendly and caring and the food , superb! If you love a curry, you’ll be really happy! People in Glasgow Southside will be lucky to live nearby!
