Restaurant Assa is situated a few km outside of Blois, on the West side along the road that follows the Lore. The restaurant is higher up and can be reached by an elevator. first I would like to say that eating is excellent and definitely worth going. as others have said, it is expensive, but within each course we found three small dishes/aways of cooking the ingredients all very interesting and excellent....presentation was nice where some hard points must be, the service and the young servedeam is a certain direction to give, it was stressful to observe and experience. our table was reserved for 7.30 and it seemed like everyone else. we were the second table to take place. My husband and I had lunch at this restaurant and were absolutely amazed by the quality-presentation-innovation-service of the food. The one-Michelin star does not do them justice. Absolutely everything we ate could easily have been found at a 3-star Michelin restaurant (throughout the years we...have eaten at many in France, Spain, Italy, and Germany). Our meal at Assa was, without a doubt, one of the best: the French-Japanese mix in all of the dishes was always a perfect symbiosis of tastes, without any ingredient or flavour overpowering one another. Credit to this restaurant which has very high ambitions and clearly prides itself on purveying an experience which is more creative and poetic (literally) than conventional, traditional establishments. But the truth is, the ambition frequently exceeded the execution, a fact underscored by the pretentiousness of...presentation and scantness of portions. We have eaten at many high-flown temples of gastronomy and are used to to rarefied presentations of food. But all too often, the former can dramatise the shortcomings of the latter. So, while the food was certainly good, it did not, in our opinion, deserve adjectives like extraordinary or spectacular .
Not being able to deposit the asked for guarantee with our credit card we wrote and explained the problem. Shortly thereafter we got a message confirming our reservation. Super! Not having been aware of the strong Japanese influence in the kitchen, we just left everything...to the excellent service staff and to the chefs in the kitchen. And, boy, what an event! An unforgettable experience for palate, eyes and nose with an outstanding choice of wines made for a very happy couple.

Excellent fine gastronomie frenchjaponese fusion. The location is not very good, not practice for parking, no possibilities to charge e.cars. The room is noisy would need a more cosy quiet place to enjoy the exquisite food explosion of french japonese fusion créations . Where the...local fish or beef meet and dispute the flavours came from Japan miso, shitake, soy marinades, matcha , yuzu . Fish dish accompanied with kind of pickles bit too salty .
