It’s a trendy American restaurant located in Cortland Alley, Lower Manhattan, that remains relatively undiscovered by tourists. We couldn't resist ordering the Double Cheeseburger ($21) as soon as we spotted it, and it turned out to be the best burger we've had this year. I’m not a meat eater, but I decided to visit Au Cheval without a reservation alongside a meat-loving friend who was eager to try it. While the menu doesn’t offer many options for vegetarians, there are a few salads available. I opted for the Caesar Salad, priced at $17.99. I found it to have a rather unique acidity for a Caesar, which gradually turned me off. I forced myself to finish it due to the cost, but I still left a sizable portion on my plate. My friend ordered the signature burger ($21) topped with an egg, along with fries ($12). It looked delicious, and she said it was outstanding. I dined here with my family, whilst on a 10 day trip to the east coast. We were recommended the restaurant. With hindsight I wouldn’t have followed through on this recommendation. 4 of us ate the bacon burger and one of us the bologna burger. 40 bucks for burgers and fries and therefore I was expecting big things. It was not crispy, smothered in sauce, such that I couldn’t taste the burger! Fries were very average. The bologna burger was weird, soft and specific taste. Service was great and the restaurant is atmospheric. But not worth a recommendation. Sorry

I experienced an issue with the staff due to a miscommunication, but the manager handled it exceptionally well. She sincerely apologized for the inconvenience I faced and even took care of my dinner bill, which I think speaks volumes about their service! The food and atmosphere were fantastic, though it is slightly pricey. I would definitely recommend this place—it's ideal for a romantic date or a business meal with a client. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had an amazing experience at Au Cheval. We mostly wanted to go to try the burger as it seems to be what most people rave about it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious food. Also loved the mac and cheese with bacon side dish. The service is great and love the vibe of the restaurant.

Probably the best burger in NYC. Although we had a reservation (9:30 on a weekday), we still had to wait for our table. We also had to wait a little longer for our meals, but it was worth it.

This is by far the best burger anywhere in the US. Friendly and quick service, great drink selection, beautiful decor and interior design. Recommend everyone to try the burger here.

Burger is 11/10 every time. Just need to note that the roast chicken (1/2 chicken) is also excellent for anyone looking for a red meat alternative.
