Unpretentious restaurant outside Chateaudun, with delicious starters and mains, and rapid service. We ate there twice. They have outdoor tables bordering a grassy field with birch trees, woods in the distance. Families dining there could let their children roam, safely away from traffic. We liked their suprême de volaille au pleurottes (chicken breast with oyster mushroom sauce), filet de merlu (fish), and duck confit. Wines of the region are available. We liked the Valençay red and white (half bottles available). For beer lovers: “Gothic” beer on tap (Belgian style, brewed by Kronenbourg). The hotel next door booked us in, just as well as it was very popular on a Friday evening and understandably so. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and when I didn't know the french for 'hake' the waitress brought the dish to show me!The food is good home cooking, generous portions, tastily cooked and presented. My husband really enjoyed his confit de canard maison which was delicious, and my hake was very good served with a cheese sauce. We shared the dessert of mini tasters which was delicious. Altogether an enjoyable meal, relaxing atmosphere, after a long day on the road.
Staying in the hotel next door so no real choice where to eat as we didn't want to drive anywhere. Excellent value for starter,main and dessert with a good one page menu choice of fresh food for 20.80 euros and 0.5litres of wine from 5euros. Prawn and avocado starter was excellent as was the duck pate. Salmon and duck mains came in lovely casserole pots. Would have ordered extra veg if realised only came with potatoes as such good value. Mixed desserts options was a lovely taster of all things naughty for pudding. Friendly, good service.
This is an excellent eating place if you are combining it with a stop over in the nearby hotel.My family and I pre booked the restaurant prior to travelling as we were a large party of 13. The staff were friendly and helpful. The set menus were very competitively priced although not extensive. However, no complaints about the quality, it was lovely.I re booked the restaurant for our return journey and the staff again were very friendly and remembered us!!!Good value for money as was the wine. Staying at the nearby Hotel Entre Beauce Et Perche this was just a few minutes walk away so was ideal for our evening meal. We hadn't booked but got a table Ok, even thiugh it was quite busy. Staff were friendly and helpful, we even made them understand we wanted a cold cidre from the fridge. Food choice was varied and tasty. It isn't anything fancy but does the job, prt of a chain I suspect.
Very much a place for lorry drivers and commercial travellers but always busy. This usually indicates good, wholesome and unpretentious food and it certainly does here. The menu is small but well thought out, copious and flavoursome. If you are in the neighbourhood and would like to avoid touristy food - well here is your chance.Very good value for money.
We stopped here en route to Calais from near Blois. The restaurant was very busy, always a good sign, but modern and welcoming. The food was very good and portions were generous. A very unpretentious wholesome menu, cheerfully served and much enjoyed. Excellent value for money. A good car park with space around to exercise the dog! We will return.
