Auberge De La Madone

Six of us visited for dinner on Saturday night and had a mixed experience. We have eaten here several times before and really enjoyed the food, brilliant views and ambience. It was very busy and noisy, with many children moving about. One of our party noticed the odour of burnt cooking fat as we went in, but fortunately we were seated by the full height glass doors and able to open them, for fresh air and feeling safer. There is seating outside under an awning. We felt that given Covid, too many people had been booked in. We've visited before, but the owners have now taken the Auberge to a whole new level. We enjoyed an excellent meal in a lovely room overlooking magnificent scenery. Outside tables were available, but even in September it was too hot! Service was immaculate and friendly and the price of €28 for a first-class three course lunch very good value. Add to that probably the best Fleurie wine with the meal with tasting.also on offer and it can't be faulted.
