Auberge des Chenêts

I think my family has been going to this restaurant for the last 15 years, always for lunch as we prefer not to drive at night from our city. My parents have a house nearby although a lot of us live overseas. The food is excellent, for us it is like a ceremony, we all dress up to go there! First, there is the warm welcome of Mrs. Gillot and her invaluable butler and his great humour and also the younger butler who is all bubbly and cheerful. Then there is the aperitif Gougères, cheese sticks and mini-croque-monsieur, all homemade although I have not eaten them much as my kids always steal them away from me... I cannot have enough of their little thin freshly baked breads, like "mini baguette...

This will be my third review of Auberge des Chenets but people need to know that it is still great. When using Trip Advisor we need to be sure we are looking at recent reports and not reports of two year ago because, as we all know, restaurants can so easily change. But not Auberge des Chenets. It just gets better.We have visited several times this year and twice last week. The salon is so warm and inviting in the winter with the log fire burning. Madame and the staff so welcoming. The food was superb. Both options of foie gras were excellent and the veal medallions perfectly cooked. We ate here while staying at a Bed and Breakfast a few kilometres away. The service was excellent. There was a fixed price menu with different price options. All the courses with the exception of the main dish were excellent. I don't usually like sardines but theirs were superb. Unfortunately we chose a beef main which was offered as an option when we did not fancy the calf's head dish or fish options. It was tasty but tough and not up to the standard of the other dishes. However, I would recommend the restaurant to anyone staying in the area who wants to avoid touristy places.

We have been regular visitors over the years and this place does not disappoint. Proper traditional French cuisine with very refined modern touches. Superb lunch today - great care is taken over the ingredients and food and everything, where possible, is locally sourced. Service very pleasant, simple modern decor. We have tried almost everywhere else in the area and always end up coming back here and wondering why we bother going anywhere else. Excellent. Reserva una mesa ahora

This was to be our special end of holiday dinner, and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant is lovely and was full of locals. Not often you see crisp linen tablecloths these days. The service was friendly and attentive. Two amuse-bouches were followed by beautifully prepared grilled prawns with a fish mousse, duck in a delicious sauce, good cheese and the most wonderful soufflé. And petit fours. Pricey, but well worth it.

We enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Auberge Des Chenets this week. We were very happy to have a reservation, as every table was full. The 29 Euro menu was an amazing value given the quality of the food, the beautiful presentation and the wonderful service. Book in advance so you are not disappointed. It was our finest meal during our 2 weeks in Burgundy.

The decor is modest. The service great. The food a wonderful experience course after course. True culinary magic. Highly recommended - i would definitely return.5 star food - truly Michelin standard from the muses en bouche to the cheese selection to the after dinner chocolates. I have only praise.

Fantastic food, fantastic wines and service. Highly recommended. Went there on a Thursday night, place was full and lively. Service by a gentlemen and a lady managed the whole dining room but was friendly and flawless. Great wine list with friendly prices. Congratulations to the chef and staff. Reserva una mesa ahora

We - 4 friends - had lunch ont the way home from Chartres to Zurich. - great fresh food - big wine menu - nice restaurant - super friendly service A must to try! Can only recommend that place!

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel in the area. The meal was excellent. This restaurant was definitely a highlight of our trip to the Loire.
