Auberge des Fins Bois

We were on our way back from a Pineau de Charentes/ Cognac maison and came across this restaurant. We sat outside in the sunshine under the canopy. The setting is lovely. The food is marvellous. I had entree and plat du jour plus dessert for 16 euros. A fantastic fish terrine and roast beef dinner (not at all like our English roast beef supper). It was more like thin slices of steak followed by the biggest creme brulee you've ever seen. My fellow diners were equally impressed with their choices. The Portuguese menu was interesting and unusual for this part of France. Wine menu was mixed with cheaper options to well known expensive brands. 3 of us went for a Sunday lunch. During lockdown the menu is somewaht limited, particularly on a Sunday, but neverthess there was a choice of all three courses and everything was beautiully presented and very flavourful. The staff here are noted for being really lovely, helpful and efficient. Some also speak very good English. If you are in the area book first but you will not be disappointed with the food.

Our first visit to this lovely restaurant and won’t be our last. Fortunately we arrived early as the restaurant became very busy. Will be making a reservation next time as is obviously a popular venue. The service was very good as was the food with a good choice on the lunchtime menu. We are looking forward to our next visit.

On our way to Cognac, we stopped at this lovely restaurant. The food was amazing, an excellent service and definitely one of the best quality/cost ratio for a lunch. Thank-you so much for a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting.

Really lovely place to eat lunch, they even did both a vegetarian starter and main course for me, friendly staff, tasty food, I can highly recommend this restaurant.
