As a place selling cheeses and beverages like beer from the nearby Abbaye, this place has some of the best kept secrets around. The been was very delightful and the cheese was amazing. Already friends and family on the other side of the pond have...heard of and soon will enjoy the labors. Service was very friendly to include english when our french was found wanting. The fries are a thicker chewier type but are agreeable all the same your mileage may vary. As for our mileage....extremely favorable indeed! As for locale and view we cannot comment due to heavy fog the day we were there. Based upon other photos and such we do fully expect a very enjoyable scenic view thus the check there on tha...

with a good view of the surrounding landscape, this auberge is a welcoming and pleasant place to lunch, we saw an automatic racial meander erratically outside until it caught between a rock and a hard place, then we had to entertain. The foods are traditional Flanders cuisine, well cooked and tasteful. in my pursuit of local order I had the assiette abbaye really a gammon steak with a cheese sauce from the nearby abbey milk tasty, but no more than they expect from gammon cheese. frau prano o' had lambs, which were also delicious. jm the enkelkinder had carbonate flamande that they find in almost every restaurant in 100 miles (or 161km if they want). I had my usual taste and it seemed too swe...

We go there every time we are on our way to Ieper. Right on the border of Belgium and France and one of the highest point. You can see the nearby Abbey for miles. The place has been upgraded in every aspect over the last...years and it is a very welcome place to stop. Lunch is always good and they have special for the day. of course, the beer is tasty. They are also famous for their cheese and have a little shop next door. Private dining room as well. The views are quite something else and of course the history in particular with WW1. A little Church has been built there in memory. My French is limited but Madame always gets what you want with a smile.

We stopped for a drink and were hopeful of lunch after long journey, we were a bit late for lunch sadly could only have bar snacks bread, cheese, ham, gherkins potatoes nice enough but over 9 euros per person. Closest restaurant...to our accommodation but sadly it was closed the 2 nights we were there so was everything else nice pizza van in the village though). A pleasant place and helpful staff- no sign they speak English we would like to have had a proper meal there, but it would obviously be at tourist prices our pizzas were only 6 euros from the man in the van.

happened to this restaurant after our Sunday midday reservation had been canceled in another facility due to an unforeseen closure. very impressed by the friendly welcome of the staff. then we enjoyed a really good three-course lunch in a pretty, rustic environment. next to a warm wood stove with views of the surrounding Flemish landscape. we also bought some bottles of the trapist beer and half a round of the delicious local cheese from the loading next door. an unforgettable and positive experience!

situated on the hill in the fabulous monastery, this bar/restaurant is an ideal test place for beer or coffee, whether you drive on a walk or a walk. we have visited many paintings in the course of the years, but on this visit we were served by a beautiful trainee waitress, this place is very busy to time, but the little ones seem to cope. would not recommend eating here, not eating many locals, but for a quick stop, it is ideal.

the view of the restaurant tables was beautiful. reserve a window table if they can. the menu was limited, but eating was beautifully presented with good portion sizes. the staff was very friendly and helpful. beautiful evening.

Out of the way on a hill on the French/Belgian border, simple fare, good beer popular with the locals so must be Ok? Look forward to dining next time as so far I have just had the snacks. By the way, the views are...incredible.

Closest place to the Abbey to try Mont des Cat beer. Great location with some amazing views. Only ever had the bread cheese which was a bit ordinary. Other food beer available.
