Six of us had never been to an Auberge before but having seen that it was close by and had good reviews we decided to go for lunch .....worth the drive and such a pretty place with a friendly kind lady who dropped everything to serve us just after midday. First bread and water followed by a delicious vegetable soup then wine and a mackerel tomatoes egg and potatoe dish she quickly adapted the set menu to suit my vegetarian needs. Main course was pork cooked in tomatoe pepper olive and red wine which scored a 10 out of 10 with the group, I was given a nice cheese salad all finished off with a delicious caramel and chocolate ice cream desert at the astounding cost of 13 euros a head including...
This could be a B&B or a lunch venue for 20 or more or a rustic but delicious dinner date. We stayed 2 nights and soaked up the healing peace and quiet of the Midi-Pyrénées valley, which is bordered by low hill lines and has a long reservoir (lac d'Astarac) nestling in the middle. We didn't have an evening meal this time, but have eaten a lunch there, not to long ago and the delicious high quality seems to have been maintained well. Chantal is a charming and tireless hostess and will always find a few minutes to chat about her ever-expanding collection of vintage farm machinery. Definitely worth stopping here for some food value gastronomie or for a stopover for a day or so.
The Auberge Le Traquet was a very pleasant surprise and I hope to return there during my next stay in the Gers. You instantly feel good there, the atmosphere, the decor and the natural decor, the homemade dishes at more than very reasonable prices have something to do with it of course. But if we remain under the charm of this Inn, if we return home with a big smile, it is undoubtedly thanks to Chantal and her two cats. She is extraordinarily kind. Chantal , the hostess is a real delight , always a charming hostess but now doing the cooking too. Lunch time set menu for us was a Gascon salad followed by poule au pot .Salad is an option instead of frites -fait maison, delicious. excellent value and good home cooking , wine included 13Euros a head. We booked and ate on a Saturday. Recommend very highly

Restaurant full of charm and very rustic. Local cuisine with very generous portions. The manager of the restaurant and the gîte is really very pleasant and adorable. If you are in the area, don't hesitate to stop by. On the other hand, a small downside, be careful, she does not take the credit card. Bring change.
