Auberge du Traquet

Six of us had never been to an Auberge before but having seen that it was close by and had good reviews we decided to go for lunch .....worth the drive and such a pretty place with a friendly kind lady who dropped everything to serve us just after midday. First bread and water followed by a delicious vegetable soup then wine and a mackerel tomatoes egg and potatoe dish she quickly adapted the set menu to suit my vegetarian needs. Main course was pork cooked in tomatoe pepper olive and red wine which scored a 10 out of 10 with the group, I was given a nice cheese salad all finished off with a delicious caramel and chocolate ice cream desert at the astounding cost of 13 euros a head including...

Chantal , the hostess is a real delight , always a charming hostess but now doing the cooking too. Currently unfortunately not open in the evenings , evenings maybe to be reinstated later in the season.( bereavement) . Lunch time set menu for us was a Gascon salad followed by "poule au pot".Salad is an option instead of frites -fait maison, delicious. excellent value and good home cooking , wine included 13Euros a head. We booked and ate on a Saturday. Recommend very highly

A walk around the square, turn down an alley to the church, around the corner, by the market, you will find this Auberge. The price is a bit higher than the average, but it is worth it. Get there about 12.30, before it fills up. We had the goats chees for starter - gorgeous with a few suprises. Magret for main, again, lovely with mushroom sauce to die for. And of course crème brulle, but the fruit looked good too.

In this lovely village you would expect a real,Gascogne meal sober but prepared with enough care and detail. Unfortunately foodis made in an hurry and although friendly staff the hygiene is not optimal .
