A sign out of the parking lot in the direction of the town indicating that the picnics are forbidden on the site should have resonated as a warning but we did not take any account of it, being rather ingenuous mood during the holidays. It was a mistake. We didn't tick any more when there was no card at the inn and we kindly let ourselves be guided by the hostess who proposed portions of ham or cheese in the absence of cooking dishes. The raw ham, cheese and terrine were correct, the melon was ripe as needed. The note was particularly salted given the quantities: 76,00 euros for 6 fine slices of ham, 100 grams at most, 9 cheese samples, 120 grams at most, 150 grams about a terrine, a half-bag...
Small French auberge in tiny hilltop village of Brancion, Borgogne region. Run by charming older couple who have apparently run it for past 35 years since taking over from her father. She does understand English fairly well. The dining area is both small and very understated decor wise, a bit like the food on offer, however in saying that , our tour group who stopped here ( all 12 of us) for lunch were served a home made quiche lorraine with salad which was quite good. Limited menu choices , did have wine/ beer on offer. Did notice some other diners gorging on some OK looking crepes. If hungry and need a bite whilst visiting this charming little village/ chateaux then apart from sandwandcher...
The place has something. The chateau, from the gate entrance to the Auberge and the small market hall past up to the small church with views over the Bourgogne; Just beautiful. The rooms of the Auberge are large (in any case the rooms we had) and fit into the ambience of the house and the old village. We stayed there several times. The owners of the Auberge were always very nice, friendly and helpful. We'll be back.
We decided to stop at the hostel to take a drink during our visit to this beautiful village. To check that coffee on the point of being served, the waiter put his little finger in it. The surrogate, super unpleasant. Service, non-existent. I'm more of a kind to make positive comments but here, frankly... A real disaster! Reserva una mesa ahora
