Auberge la Goeliche

While researching the trip my boyfriend and I were taking his mom to Quebec City for, we looked into the Ile d'Orleans as a half day trip to take. As we were traveling there right after Christmas, our choices were limited in what was open. Luckily, we found the Auberge la Goeliche in Sainte-Petronille at the tip of the island. We arrived on a snowy day, and were greeted by a picture perfect image of an auberge. The restaurant had a beautiful view of a wintery St-Laurence River with ice floating. My wife were first time visitors from Boston and stopped in for a late morning breakfast . Upon arrival we were advised that breakfast had concluded but lunch would be served within 1/2 hr. The proprietor Marie could not have been more hospitable, offering us coffee, bathroom facilities until the dining room opened. We thanked her but decided to take a drive around the island and would come back. On our way out ,Marie noticed my wife had on a light weight jacket and Marie thought she might be cold so she took off her own sweater and offered it to my wife. The restaurant was a recommendation from one of the wine yards we visited. It is along the waterfront. The food was good, reasonably priced. However, it would have been useful for the menu items to have a list of some of the main ingredients. Had we known their lobster roll had cilantro (coriandre en francais) we would have asked for it be omitted or ordered something else. Cilantro is not something we expected in a lobster roll - and people have a 'love/hate' relationship with it.

We enjoyed two nights at La Goeliche. We had a beautiful room with a balcony - view to Quebec city. Canada Day we watched the fireworks from our balcony. The food was outstanding and very french canadian. We loved every meal. Very relaxed atmosphere and quiet. We spent the day travelling the Island. It takes just over an hour with no stops but we made many and enjoyed each stop.

We were at the waterfalls when hunger struck. Our first choice had a 60 minute wait so we headed here. Luckily our cousins live in Quebec City so they knew about this spot. Great view, food was really good. Server was a bit cold and prices a bit high but if you are in the area a great stop.

This restaurant is located in a food court area that also has a bar and several other food vendors offering Korean cuisine, seafood lobster rolls, and sandwiches. I decided to order the BBQ meat.

It's hard for me not to enjoy barbecue, but this particular restaurant only receives 3 stars from me. When I order brisket, I expect nice, thick slices.

Beautiful dining room in a charming inn in an ideal location not to far from the bridge. Casual elegance at a reasonable price. Great View

Well worth a visit, as we enjoyed lobster rolls in a very lovely setting. Service was good and we were allowed to linger.
