We wanted an escape from Provence and Le Mas seemed to fit the bill.Terrific scenery and the final six km on D10 into Le Mas with soaring rock faces and deep green valleys was certainly exciting. Mist hung in the valleys as we finaslly arrived at Auberge Le Charamel. Isabelle and Regis are wonderful hosts and for Isabelle nothing is too much trouble. She is just the perfect attentive hostess.The isolated location means that most diners stay over. Who would really want to navigate the D10 in the dark after a few drinks? The other guests were a couple of middle aged motorbike riders and a youthful couple who announced they had ridden up on their push bikes from Nice. Really? Small but nice cle...
Isabelle advised us half-board and we were glad to accept that offer so it would be a complete surprise. And a surprise it was, how it looked, how it tasted and what we had to pay for such a wonderful meal. At the same time 2 other Dutch families along a couple of French, visited the La Charamel just because of the food. Since its really in the country side and there must have been options on shorter distance, I think that tells enough. Isabelle and Regis enthusiasm and friendliness is a bonus which makes your visit more then worth while. And yes also this evening the wild pigs came out of the forest to see whether somebody would throw them something.

Lovely furnished small hotel in a great location with very good kitchen at fair prices. Entertainment through the host in at least 5 languages is unpaid!
