I was one of the people who wrote a glowing review of Austins. Now I am taking back what I said.Several months ago, I was at Austins and had to deal with a bunch of 20-something drunk young men who were calling me fat and old.The barmaids did nothing. In the end, I tossed the one inch of beer I had left in my glass at them. Now I have been barred for six months to a year for standing up for myself. I am in my mid 50's and have been a regular patron of Austins for close to six years.Why is it that I was verbally abused, but I am the one who was barred?I suggest that you not go to Austins. Try the Bull and Finch a block down at Elbow and Southland.
Ok bar, ok food, good prices, some good specials. Staff seems to love chatting together at the bar with the occasional trip to see customers. Every time I order I seem to get bland food. Maybe some secret diners needed to point out some of the areas that need improvement. Interior is modern, neat, clean with lots of tv's. Seems to be loads more potential here.
We got to the pub around 5:30pm. There were lots of people there but plenty or room. The servers were excellent. They were training and the new girl was great. The folks seated next to us are wonderful people and surprised us by buying our supper!!! The food was excellent! Steak and Lobster special was only $21.95!! Incredible. Highly recommend it!
The interior is much nicer than the exterior! Lots of seating, pool tables and vlt machines. Service varies sometimes it's great and other times not so much. White wine choices are poor. Other drinks are just fine. Food is very basic pub food. Nothing for vegans. Good place for a few drinks with friends.

We live a few blocks from this place and it would have been nice to have a regular place close by that we liked but this place has too many problems. The staff is miserable, slow service, eye roll when you ask for cutlery. Food is mediocre at best. We will never go back.
Some of the staff members are kind of "Air Heads". I really like the food here though, serious compliments to the chefs! It is kind of an older person hangout though so not bad for a quiet night and some good food!
The food here is very good. The service can vary based on server and crowd. A nice atmosphere for appies and drinks. A long time neighbourhood bar recently renovated.
Great bar with amazing pub food! One of the best in all of Calgary! Who doesn't love their cheap steak sandwich which is the everyday special! There wings
