My wife and I were biking through Huttenheim when we spied a unobtrusive sign pointing down an informal alley. It was lunch time and we stopped to investigate. Rolling our bikes down the gravel path we saw outdoor tables at the end of the alley, some occupied by locals and their families. Just as we parked our bikes, the owner came out the door leading to the kitchen and welcomed us, pointing to a free table. "Do you have soup?" we asked. He said yes and asked us if we wanted something to drink. We ordered the homemade soup of the day (thickly blended, winter vegetable soup - carrots, squash, pumpkin, etc.), bread and wine. the team in this restaurant is very welcoming and really takes care of their parasols. we arrived shortly after the food service (about 2.30) we were not able to find other restaurants for lunch, so we were very pleased when the boss/owner said we could. still sitting. when he found out that we were not local, he offered to assemble a "trust the chef" menu with local joys. he served us a hearty and tasty honeycomb with an amazing beer and local beer/living drinks. the food was fabulous with generous food, the hospitality beyond and beyond, what was expected from a caffe in a small town. a diversity of menus (with weekly themes) with an attractive menu, good cuisine with fresh products and explanations as to the origin of the products. the chefs make us share their love for the kitchen but also for the wine. The chef is a connoisseur! each surprise is a delight as its name suggests. a very nice address. catering activity with home delivery: great!
we have come here for many years several times a year to experience defensive Alsatian cuisine.We not only enjoy the Alsatian food and weeping, but also the stimulating talks with the owners, remy cutters and beatrice becht. we can't go to Alsace without having been in the "aux delices de la coccinelles"!
