They had a decent run, but it's time for me to part ways. I once really enjoyed dining here, but my last two experiences have completely changed my perspective. It seems that when a restaurant stops hiring locals and exclusively relies on foreign workers, the quality begins to decline. I suggest ordering a lot because, more often than not, you'll only receive half of your food. You'll likely become too frustrated from the waiting and confusion to worry about getting the rest of your order. I arrived just before closing time, only to find the doors locked and unable to get in. After a long journey, I was looking forward to ordering some food and using the restroom. Sadly, I've decided to take this A&W off my list of pit stops during my travels. My experiences have generally been below average, but in the past, they would still serve customers who arrived right before closing. Over the years, I've stopped here numerous times while passing through the province, and this recent experience left me feeling quite disappointed. I recently visited this A&W restaurant and was shocked by the state of the restrooms. They were some of the dirtiest I’ve seen in any dining establishment. It was clear that they hadn't been cleaned in days, if not weeks, as the floors, walls, and doors were grimy, there was hair on the toilet in the women’s restroom, and the sinks were filthy and garbage was overflowing. If the management considers this acceptable, I can only imagine what the kitchen must be like. After seeing the condition of the restrooms, I chose not to order any food and I have decided that I will never return.
Additionally, my order was incomplete, as was that of another couple who was also waiting. Another staff member was trying her best to manage the situation and resolve the problems, but it's clear that the newer employees were undertrained. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant also fell short, which I think is a direct consequence of the inadequate staffing. I would be open to revising this review if the owner can provide a reasonable explanation for the understaffing. After all, one experience shouldn't define the entire establishment. This restaurant could benefit from closing for a week to undergo a deep cleaning. The napkin dispenser was dirty and empty, and the salt and pepper shakers at my table were also empty. The windows seemed like they hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time. The place has potential; it just needs some tender loving care.
