The Baren is located in the quiet village of Oberageri which is located on the Ageri See. It is about a 20 minute drive from Zug and about 40 from city center Luzern and Zurich. The restaurant serves both continental and Swiss dishes. You can tell that the chef and kitchen staff prepare each dish fresh and with tender loving care. The food is well seasoned and presented. The dishes are creative and the menu changes with the seasons. You will not find frozen dishes. Even though the menu is in German, the staff speaks some English and is very pleased to translate the menu for you. Be sure to ask for their specials because sometimes it is not on the menu. We went to Restaurant Baren with some friends. I must say that the atmosphere and the service in the restaurant is really nice. In all honesty I think that I was a bit unlucky, because my starter (salad) was not washed and therefore had still sand in it. The waitress dealt very swiftly with the issue and offered for a different meal, which I declined, and in the end I also didn't have to pay for my starter. The main corse was lovely (veal) but it costs a whooping 55 CHF, which I think is a bit too pricy. Anyway, it was good and I choose it knowing that it would costs that. The pasta from my wife was overcooked. Altogether, this experience was just average, but I will definitely give it anoth...
Wonderful cosy restaurant located in the center of Oberägeri in the canton of Zug. Every dish is just delicious, but if you ever make it there, you have to try the Schnitzel... simply devine!! We are going there quite regularly, and I can't wait for our next visit. Also the manager of the restaurant is simply fantastic. She makes anything to make your stay in this restaurant as nice as possible. From perfect wine recommendations to any extra wish you may have.
we have family that live in oberageri so we called here for a Saturday evening meal when on a visit. the staff were nice and friendly on arrival and even though the waitress we had spoke only a little English she explained the menu perfectly. the soup was given a 10/10 by all who had it. the entrecote steak was beautifully tender and perfectly cooked. a good selection of wine rounded off a great meal. our glasses were never left empty with attentive service.
