Nothing was really wrong with the food, but nothing was really right. It was, well, boring. I had prime rib with tasteless mashed potatoes and some brussel sprouts. The sprouts were sauteed with bacon but had some sweet flavoring that was a little overpowering. The portion of the prime rib was small, probably about 6 oz., which was okay for me since I am a light eater. But for the cost of this Christmas Eve fixed price dinner $35) , I would have expected a much larger portion. My friend had the filet, which she paid extra for, and again, it was okay, but nothing special. The place didn't seem as busy as I thought it would be for a holiday dinner. After several visits to Bakersfield, this is the first time I experienced any disappointment. We were told that the rack of lamb was not available, then told that it was. We were told that the prime rib was available, then were told that it was not. Ordered dirty martinis, and they were delivered in small tumbler glasses, on ice and without olives. They were remade and served in proper martini glasses after being shaken (and not on ice) and with olives. I will return as I believe this was not how Bakersfield normally operates.
Recent poor experience was inconsistent with our experience of 10 days or so before. Salad line cooks were clearly off this time. Ordered same exact salad which looked tasted nothing like before and didn't have all ingredients listed on menu. So quickly ordered substitute which was supposed to be a hot appetizer and came out lukewarm. We will go back to midweek dining and hope for the best. My partners meal was fine.
Bakersfield has been a favorite with my family as well as friends. Wonderful spot to enjoy a great meal as well as great service. My friends and I appreciate so much the staff's attention and willingness to allow us to visit and enjoy our get together at our leisure. The menu is varied and never disappoints. A great place in the area

Both Michelles the hostess welcomed us very nicely even 15 min before formal open time; and another Michelle the server was pleasant, kind and very attentive. Very appropriate as well nicely commenting on what we shared with her. Very nice place overall; business decor with comfortable furniture and nice crew.
The reservation went smoothly. Food was excellent. We were disappointed that the dessert we wanted was sold out by a little after 7 pm. and there was no bread for the table. It was also out. Service was great We felt sorry for the wait staff having to explain that these items were not available.
Reservation was made and the restaurant called that morning to say that they had shut down for an unknown amount of time while the chef reinvents the menu...
I regularly come purchasing some food in here. I like the rapid customer service and well cooked food. Fantastic work.

The trout was a nice portion, however did not have much flavor. I would not order this again.
The four of us really enjoyed our meal and good service. We will be back soon.
