The 18th century mill town of Occoquan has it's fair share of sit down restaurants, many of which have outdoor patios. However, in a quaint town as this, time must not be wasted. Ideally, you'll order a quality lunch to-go and wander down Mill Street stopping inside shops and art galleries. Ballywhack Shack provides that experience. This charming little restaurant on the street might not have the most impressive exterior, but the food and drinks were absolutely fantastic. It's evident that the chefs are skilled, as the combinations of bread and other ingredients were perfectly executed. I really enjoyed my unsweetened iced tea, but I couldn't help but finish my daughter's peach lemonade—it was too delicious to resist. I can't wait to return for another meal!
This was our first visit to the restaurant, but it certainly won't be our last. We were drawn in by their Down the Shore pork roll sandwich, which was excellent, especially with the added fried egg. It was absolutely delicious. Our second choice was the Randy Reuben sandwich, which offered a unique twist on the traditional Reuben with a sweet-hot relish. We highly recommend it.
Weird little shack on the street but the food and drinks were wonderful. It is apparent that they know what they are doing and probably experimented with what works and what doesn't because the bread and other ingredients they used work so well. Ballywhack Shack is truly a hidden gem! The hot dogs we tried were perfectly seasoned, not overly salty at all. We also enjoyed the organic lemonade, which had just the right amount of sweetness, and the hot cider was delightful. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We’re excited to explore more of the Ballywhack Shack menu on our next visit.
Delicious, expertly made sandwiches! Love the eco-friendly packaging! They even allowed me to order a plain frank for my dog. The macaroni and potato salad were tasty. I enjoyed a peppermint latte with an extra shot, and the milk stayed frothy right to the very last drop.

The sandwiches here are amazing! I also enjoy the creative names they have for them. I highly recommend trying any of their sandwiches—you definitely won’t be disappointed!
