Ended up eating here before a concert. Wasn't my first choice, but decided to wing it. Should have known as it is clearly not an authentic Japanese restaurant. Food is just OK. Service leaves a lot to be desired.Tried to order 3 different things off the menu- they were all unavailable. Settled on a Teriyaki chicken bento for me and a Chicken Katsu and Sushi bento for my partner. We ordered at 6.20pm and at the time I explained that we needed to eat by 7pm as we were going to a concert. Cashier laughed at me ! Still I thought that they should have everything served in 40 mins. Funnily enough, that didn't happen... the table of Koreans who came in and ordered after us, got their meals first. O...
I ordered a takeaway lunch here, a few things that I had initially asked for weren't on the menu. Ok I thought. I ordered and took a seat at the bar stools, next to the cashier and watched my food being cooked. A man who had walked in after me ordered spring rolls, something else and took a seat elsewhere to wait for his food. When the female cook took the spring rolls from the freezer, she accidentally dropped one on the floor. Unaware that I was watching her, she carefully bent down, picked it up off the floor and tossed it with the others into the deep fryer.. needless to say, I couldn't eat my lunch. Avoid! No contamination standards here!
We were staying in a nearby hotel and were looking for somewhere to eat that was good value and tasty. We landed on our feet when we visited here. The two men watching badminton on their mobile phones at the next table were a bit off-putting - the restaurant otherwise was quiet and not particularly outstanding in terms of decor etc. However the food was delicious and the price, for Sydney, was superb. I would have no hesitation in coming back here. Freshly prepared, tasty Japanese food at a very reasonable price...what more could you ask for?!
Bamboo Field is one of my favourite food stops in DFO Homebush. I love the choice of Asian foods available and they taste just as good as they look on the display board. Plenty of other visitors to the centre are of the same opinion when you look around the distinctive BF serving plates are everywhere. Seating is in the food court area. The service is always friendly, efficient and polite. Highly recommended.

Not the most amazing Japanese I've had but still pretty nice. A good menu choice and plenty of food for a good price. You won't go hungry. I had a teriyaki chicken salad which was really good and nice to have some fresh salad options. Service was friendly and helpful.
Great food, fresh and generous portions. Very tasty teriyaki (I love the beef teriyaki bento box) and I also enjoy their vegetarian udon soups. If you are a vegetarian though, please let them know to not add any seafood!
THe one in Homebush DFO is horrible!! the rice was old and soggy and the meat wasnt fresh! Avoid at all cost if you can! The satay chicken tasted like boiled chicken gone bad! bad stinch. The honey chicken taste like M
Box was great value after the lifestyle discount. The teriyaki beef was warm and tasty and the sushi was nice as well. Forget the sushimi. It was tough and lifeless..
