Bamboo Thai - Reservar una mesa

I would have rated it 3.5 but Trip Advisor does not yet allow for this. The food was overall tasteful but we found the quantities to be miserly compared to the price (rice comes on top of a meager portion of beef if you go for basilic Thai beef). Some of the food is advertised as hot and spicy but you may want to use a microscope to locate the chilli — despite telling the waiter it was really fine to make it very hot when asked about our tastes. We also waited 30 minutes after we asked for the bill. The food is decent but it would benefit from some spicing up and not everyone is on diet or has anorexia.

We returned to Bamboo Thai after three years as we are Australian and we’re not able to come due to Covid. We felt that three years ago when we came it had become slightly more expensive and the servings a little smaller. This time when we came, the service was slow and not nearly as personal as it had been, the meals expensive and extremely small 3 small pieces of duck in our duck and red curry. We are so sad as being Australian we love Thai food and used to look forward to our visits to Bamboo Thai each year.

At the risk of repeating myself : how can this restaurant get bad reviews is beyond me... If you don’t like the food, then you don’t like authentic Thai food, this is not the restaurant fault ! The ingredient are high quality, the variety of the dishes is great and the service is excellent : thé owner is very knowledgeable and the waitresses are making everything they can to make your experience perfect. I come in the area once a year and book the table 4 nights in a row, and never regret it...

We read on the internet that they were open at 6:30, but when we showed up at that time there was no one there. Within a few minutes a woman drove up and walked past us, without a word. 5 minutes later she opened the front door and very rudely asked if we have a reservation and then says they only open at 7pm. No chance that we would wait around for such terrible service.

The food quality is very good, but the prices keep going up and the portions keep getting smaller. We've eaten here over the past 7 years, even during lock down for take away, and we understand food costs keep rising, but then don't make the portions literally minuscule for the money.
