Reading the reviews of the Banana Palm a person would be inclined to dine there for fine food and lovely staff. Well not so last night. One of the waitresses has the worst attitude and rudeness I have ever seen at a restaurant. Clearly not wanting to be waiting tables, she served in a surly manner and when we asked her for a bottle of wine she simply dumped onto the middle of the table. We were astounded! Turns out that she is a daughter of the owners as well. The food was pretty good, very overpriced though. We won't be ever going back there again. One extremely waitress thinking herself too good to serve paying customers could lose a lot of business.
Visited this restaurant with family whilst staying in Sydney , the restaurant itself is quite dark inside and there's not much of an atmosphere , ours was a midweek visit so that might explain the lack of atmosphere , the food itself was very tasty and the flavours very nice , presentation excellent the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. , it's BYO if you want to bring your own wine , as with all my reviews it's rated on value for money , and this ticks all the boxes , well worth a visit
Located in the old Coogee Fire Station, the Banana Palm serves up some of the best and most authentic Vietnamese cuisine available in Sydney's east. With the added bonus of being BYO (wine only - not beer) it offers an amazing array of dishes and all at very reasonable prices. Definitely call before to book as it is a very busy place.
What a great meal - we will definitely be back. Have already recommended it to family & friends & they have not been disappointed. Make sure you book on the weekends as it's very popular. Meals were a good size & medium range price wise. We will be back

Frozen and overcooked dry tastless food! Nice room good service but the food has gone down hill since our last visit a few years back as a local we wont be back.

I was excited to have Vietnamese but was not that impressed. I had the chicken soup and the broth had no flavour.
The menu has lots to offer. The food is simply DELICIOUS and we received wonderful service from everyone
