Bar Jean provided me with the WORST culinary experience I have ever had in my entire life. As one arrives at the restaurant, the packed exterior and laissez-faire ambiance suggests a pleasant evening, however this is merely a facade to conceal the horrendous service and despicable treatment towards tourists. A brief summary of my evening: My family and I were seated, handed the menu, waited 30minutes to place our order (after requesting to do so several times), waited 45minutes until my salad arrived (I had ordered two entrees, they only brought me one), ate my salad, waited 15minutes for the waitress to let me know that my dish would not be able to be prepared, called the son of the manager...
Went there with 2 families of 5. Fantastic atmosphere. Very good value children's menu. Food is very good but not excellent. The only disappointment was the wine list which was over priced. Place was mobbed but the service was good and very friendly. You can't book and we arrived at 7:45 and got the last table outside, so go early if you are a large group. There is a good queueing system for tables which works very well especially if you've no kids as you can have a few drinks waiting for you're table. All round a good experience.
Despite reading a lot of negative reviews we decided to pay Bar Jean a visit. The place gets very busy at peak hours, so a bit of waiting to be seated is fully understandable. Staff offered us some drinks while we waited. The food quality is really exceptional in comparison to other places and the value for money. Overall - a very convenient choice for any occasion from a quick bite to a long pleasant evening.
After paying €40 to drink in this bar, they made us leave 10 minutes before closing and threw away the last of our drinks so that the waiting staff could go home early. Following this an older man who I presume to be the manager emerged, and starting throwing homophobic comments at my brother and his boyfriend. I would advise everyone to stay away from this bar, as the staff there do not deserve your custom.

An obvious lunch place after shopping in Halle des Marches. Good ambience and attentive waiters, english-able. Bistromenu as expected, albeit english translation mediocre. Had charcuterie assiette (3 different cuts, a bit dry and without accompaniment) and calamari frites, perfect and served with local tartare sauce. But nearly missed their tapas - go the bar area, and find a nice selection
Get there early, ie by 7:15 pm, if you want a seat, this is a happening place up by the market. Always full, always humming. We loved the tappas and the mussels and fries. Also enjoyed the seafood dishes. Went there twice in our week.
The tapas are not very Spanish but tasty. We all had paella which was fine. Wines by the glass. Reasonable prices, friendly informal service. Recommended for a casual meal.
Really good food and fast service. Specially the mussels were delicious. This restaurant seems to be popular, because it was challenging to get a table.
