"We had coq au vin, very thin sauce, two potato's and a chicken wing! Very disappointed. As we had high hopes for this place! I am not sure they realise that the dish was very low standard. If I find photo I will post it."

I read some of the negative reviews in this region and many are from my fellow Americans complaining about slow service ... hello, this is France, not McDonald 's, and we are dining on their schedule, not ours. That means slow meals and yes it can take forever to get the check. In the case of this restaurant, operated by a man and woman (maybe husband and wife? , service was prompt and friendly, and we had a choice of tables outside on their lovely patio. My sister had a vegetarian salad which she said was one of the best she 's had on our trip so far, and I had the coq au vin, very good, and the chocolate mousse, lovely. Prices were very fair and service was prompt and attentive. I 'm guessing if the entire patio is full, you will wait like at most restaurants in this region. Many are 'mom and pop ' establishments and they cannot keep up when they are totally full. However my experience today was excellent.
We had a very good lunch here. We chose it as the menu looked more interesting than others in the village. Three courses for about 17 Euros. The food was very good, a choice of soup or a terrine of fois gras and pintard for starters both were good. For the main meal we all had the plat jour which was a very tasty filet mignon de porc with a lovely honey and spiced sauce. A delicious creme brulée was enjoyed by all of us. We had some good value and pleasant white wine in a carafe. Overall a good dining experience, Perfect for lunch, Good sized portions but not too much. We would recommend it.
Saint Cirq Lapopie was our second stop with Marion of Ophorus Excursions and Tours. Marion recommended Bar Lapopie for our lunch, and we were very glad she did. We both had Chicken Caeser Salads and red wine which were excellent. The restaurant was very busy, but our waiter provided excellent service to all of us including a party of 10 people.
We enjoyed an excellent lunch here under the terrace one of the few level areas in St cirque. The food was most enjoyable, the service excellent and the price very reasonable. The restaurant was well patronised with people from all over we shared our lunch with some French Canadians from Quebec.
