La Vague is a classic beach restaurant located in Saint Pierre city center. Its shaded terrace overlooking the wonderful bay is its major asset. Otherwise setting is common, deco is rather outdated. Family of 4 we had an average reasonable cost lunch. We shared daily specials and typical discovery menus. Traditional local cuisine. Planter’s Punch, cod accras, avocado with vinaigrette, Creole black pudding, red snapper grilled or cooked in court bouillon (blaff), crayfish fricassee, local vegetables, bananas and ananas flambé. No surprise, unpretentious, hearty. But uneven quality of some dishes. Staff was efficient and pleasant. Service was not too long even though restaurant was packed to the roof.

I am sorry to say that this was probably the most disappointing place we ate at in all of Martinique. The food was served very quickly by Caribbean standards, and very economical as well, and very bland. Maybe this is the way creole food is supposed to be. The service was rather gruff, for example our server put the bottles of rum and sugar water on our table and told us to pour it ourselves. There were not many places open to eat in downtown St. Pierre the night we ate at the Vague. If I had to do it again I would get some things at the grocery store and eat on the balcony of my room.

If you are looking for a cozy restaurant with some good local food to reasonable prices, do not go there! This place has seriously crappy, tasteless food to horrendous prices. The service is not better either, the owners seem tired of what they are doing, which reflects in a very bad attitude and terrible service. Rarely you will find more arrogant and unfriendly service at a restaurant. Place to avoid!

Open for lunch and dinner, this restaurant has a large terrace overlooking the sea. The 16€ menu is an excellent choice for cheap but authentic creole food. The staff are reserved to friendly.
