A Bit of Nostalgia. Bendale Restaurant, located in the 'Ben-jungle ' in Scarborough, Toronto 's east side of town. It was started by my father, Peter Siskos, around 1959. We ran this as a family until 1978 when he sold it. It is still there and a place I love to stop by when I 'm in 'da hood '.<br/ <br/ <br/ I started working there when I was 6 years old. I remember when I used to wash dishes while standing on a wooden Coke bottle crate. Work continued in the basement where I 'd peel the potatoes for dad 's famous Bendale Fresh Cut fries.
