Dropped a greasy poppadom on my partner and her friend, then proceeded to place it back on the stack poppadoms and serve it to diners on another table that had ordered them. At the end of my partner and her friends meal, Bengals brasserie added a service charge of £16 to their bill. (Compulsory service charge: Must be stated to the customer in advance of ordering. The customer can only refuse to pay it if the service was poor. Discretionary service charge: Can be added to the bill receipt at the end of the meal, but the customer can decide not to pay it in any case.
