Beryl's Pepper Pot

I have been going to the Beryl's Ajax location for years and I have never been disappointed by their food. I came to the new Pickering location for a friend's dinner party. Firstly, this location is split between a take out section and restaurant which surprised me. The restaurant side is very small. It can fit about 30 people, max. Secondly, the menu options are pretty much identical to the take out, but much more costly. While the food was tasty, (Ajax's rice and peas is much better though), I felt completely robbed. I paid $16 for curry goat, rice and peas with coleslaw. I got much less rice and no more goat than I would with a large take out meal. It makes it worse that you can literally...

Beryl's pepper pot serves the BEST oxtail with no comparison. Yes, it may look like it's a little pricey but oxtail is a pricey dish to make. When you order oxtail from this restaurant, rest assured that you will get a piece of meat with every bite you eat. The portions are generous and it's delicious. The food is so flavourful that it has raised the bar to an unreachable high that nowhere else can come close! I love this place! Even my parents eat there every week. The dine in option is wonderful and nice for a date night.

We were keen to try the new Jamaican restaurant in town, and we weren't disappointed! We dropped in on a week night so it was fairly quiet, but they seemed to also have a thriving business of people picking up food for take out.We enjoyed a Roti dish and a curry dish. The portions were generous and the spice was just the right amount of heat (our waitress asked how hot we'd like our meals).We'll definitely be back again to enjoy a few more menu items!

The food continues to be outstanding (while more expensive) due to being in a restaurant. The setting is one where you are comfortable to take your friends out for Jamaican food in a classy environment. Menu options are different than the Ajax store. Total fan of the Jerk Chicken - perfectly done every time, not dry nor greasy. The spice is perfect - choice of regular or spicy. The Oxtail is amazing. Staff are always pleasant and attentive. So Beryl's have come to Pickering!

If you like Jamaican food Beryls is the place to go. The roti was huge and very tasty. Kid friendly. Very clean and good service. Eat in or take out.Give it a try you wont be sorry

My wife had the shrimp roti and it was fantastic. I had the jerk pork with rice and beans. It was great and spicy. Nice clean place and a comfortable atmosphere, a most try.

I didn't enjoy the goat roti that they have on the menu, it was tasteless. Its a shame, because the Ajax location is sooo much better. Reserva una mesa ahora

Coconut shrimp was absolutely fantastic! The curry goat was one of the best meals I've ever had. Jerk chicken and pork were good.

Great option for authentic West Indian Food. Good portion sizes. My wife and are always satisfied, Tasty food, great Roti!
