I’ve been here numerous times and the staff are always lovely. After going for my birthday we were first scolded for not wanting to stand in the rain and trying to get in the front door. We were finally offered a table after 40 mins, we were told we could take a smaller table or wait another hour. We took the table and asked if we could have another chair as it was easier to sit on chairs than the bench. The manager told me no, under no circumstances and then said ‘I told you this table was small and you agreed to sit there’ she then crouched down and got close to my face and scolded me like a 5 year old. We walked out, the waitress near by apologised and said she understand why we wanted to...

My wife and I visited for lunch on valentine's day. We had to queue which was expected to be honest but finally got a seat after approx 40 minutes. As ever the cafe is lovely and the staff were as attentive as they could given how busy it was. The food however was a little disappointing. We both had Rosti mine was with raclette cheese and bacon, and my wife had the Florentine with spinach, tomatoes and mushroom. Unfortunately both were a little undercooked leaving the potato quite soggy and unappetising. Although not the worst meal we've eaten, the prices Betty's charge should mean perfection, especially given that Rosti is a Betty's speciality. This isn't the first time we've been disappoin...

We have visited this restaurant multiple times in the past, but we believe this will be our last visit. The building is beautiful and has an old-fashioned style, but the prices are much too high. I ordered the Yorkshire Rarebit, which was quite bland and cost around £17. My husband ordered the Swiss Breakfast, which consisted of rosti with egg, half a tomato, mushroom, and a rasher of bacon, priced at around £18. The dishes were not good value for money. The service was good, and the staff were very nice, but we chose not to leave a tip due to the high prices. We hope that Bettys is paying their staff above average wages.

My partner treated me to brunch at Betty’s Northallerton. We were served by a lovely young lady who easily answered our questions. I had eggs royale which were well cooked and delicious with plenty of salmon. I also had a cafetière of the house blend coffee which was lovely. My partner had eggs benadict and a pot of English breakfast tea which he also enjoyed. A lovely treat but a little expensive. My only disappointment was with the limited choice of coffee served in a cafetière, only 3, the house blend and 2 single origin coffees. I remember when there would be at choice of 6 or more single origin coffees on the menu.
