Bird's Nest Yakitori

Ordered the lunch special of chicken karaage don. The karaage was well fried and moist. However the accompaniments were a let down. The pickled wombok was absolutely salty (I assumed they forgotten to rinse the wombok and add vinegar to it after it was soaked in brine). There was a little mound of blended radish with soy sauce, the top was nice and refreshing to the palate, but as I spooned the bottom all I got was a mouthful of overpowering salt! It was so bad I had regurgitate into my napkin. Not sure if it was meant to be like that. I also got the pork belly skewers and chicken tenderloin. We visited the Fortitude Valley restaurant on Fri night. I had high hopes for this place because I loved Yakitori when we were in Japan and I wasn't disappointed. It felt just like some of the restaurants we visited there, the food was so tasty and delicious, really nice to be able to just pick lot's of small dishes and try different things (the chicken skins and arteries were yummy) and the vibe of the restaurant, I found, was really authentic too. Also great to have a bit of advise on which kind of sake to choose. Staff were friendly and service quick. Will definitely be back, and would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Awesome place to have yakitori- tasty and definitely feels authentic. It's so yummy that you may have the bill creeping up on you though because this place is definitely not cheap. I don't think I've spent less than 80 dollars for the two of us each time we've been here. Super friendly staff, I would recommend sitting at the bar if there are less than three of you because you get to converse with the staff which is really awesome.

Brilliant. Always ends up being more expensive than we'd hoped, once we add in some saki and gorge ourselves on yakitori, but it's totally worth it. The chicken liver skewer is my favourite, along with the okra skewer (not on the menu, only available sometimes as a special). And I'm in love with the wombok salad. The lunch specials lured me in $12 for a delicious karate don, the chicken was super tender and juicy. It was cooked to absolute perfection. Only the Japanese can make deep fried chicken into a beautiful refined dish.  I came with a pram and the staff were very accommodating which is always much appreciated. I'll be back for lots more lunch specials.

A great night out at a great venue. We had the $55 chef's selection, which really was value for money and have a good selection of skewers. I really recommend the tomato skewers as well as the panna cotta. The bar menu was extensive so I think this would also be a great place for after work drinks.

After seeing Emi & Marie on The Hot Plate we said if we ever went back to Brisbane we would visit. We were not disappointed in any way. Sensational food coupled with great service and we had a wonderful time.
