We came at 12:30 PM and had requested for an earlier check in but were told that the two rooms were still being prepared and would not be ready until 2PM. So we went off to a mall for lunch and some shopping and stayed until dinner. We came back late in the evening and finally got checked in. The rooms were situated far from the hotel lobby and basement parking especially if you had bags and luggages. Our room was on the second floor which was only accessible by stairs. The walk up and down was easy and not an issue once our hands were free.. The first thing we noticed upon entering our room was a very big spider on the wall. It was hard not to miss it because its body was the size of a sauc...
We stayed at the Sofitel Hotel and opted for the buffet breakfast. When we made our reservation, they really sold it to us. It was enjoyable, but I wouldn't say it was worth the $45 per person price tag. The hash browns were definitely a highlight; they had a wonderful flavor. The bacon was also quite good. The sausages looked a bit odd, but considering it's a French hotel, it might have been a local specialty—we decided not to try them. Overall, the quality was quite good and fresh compared to most buffets. I didn't try the congee (I believe that's what it was, and it had an Asian appearance) because there was an inconsiderate woman coughing near the food… it was unfortunate that the staff...
Distinguished rather than rustic, the Parisian skyline featured on a scrim above the wine buffet is the telltale food origin marker. Loved the buffet breakfast. Has all the options to make an English breakfast, as well as an array of fruits, pastries, hams and cheeses and even some Asian porridge on the side. Staff are pleasant and polite, and the chef was lovely when I asked if she could make fried eggs for me rather than the usual scrambled. Also saw others asking for poached eggs and omelettes (so you can definitely ask! .

The following morning, we returned for breakfast, and I must say it was the best breakfast I’ve had all week. Even though it was a buffet, everything was prepared perfectly. I appreciated that when my family and I entered the restaurant, we were immediately asked what kind of coffee we wanted, and our coffees arrived at the table before most of us had even sat down.
Up in gold coast for holiday, the Mercure was in the middle of the two places we needed to be. Service was great, The bar was also surprisingly quite well-stocked with some of our fave liquers.Although we were there without the kids, we imagined it would be quite suitable for young families. Have dined at this restaurant many times and always return for the Vegetarian Pie, it is fantastic, so full of flavour. Other dishes are very tasty, a good selection with prompt service. Atmosphere is lovely for a quiet relaxed meal.. Well worth a visit.
I stayed at this hotel for a few nights, eating most meals in the restaurant. There was great variety in the menu and all meals were delicious. I encountered a lot of different staff over those few days and they were all very helpful and pleasant.

Like that it was still lovely after all of these years. Close to the Casino and Oasis plaza with the tram right out the front.
