Reviewed this Gr8 little restaurant last year & decided it merits another mention because believe it or not, it's now even better.It's located in the pretty village of Cherval, Dordogne.It's decor is typically French with two bright salons & an outside terrace to choose from. Annmarie is on hand with a warm & welcome greeting and once seated, will enthusiastically talk you through the varied menu.The food is locally sourced and professionally prepared by Frank, 'Le Chef' who provides delicious food to suit all tastes.There's always a lovely atmosphere and a good mix of not only Brits but French & others too.It's good value for money with tasty wines to accompany the yummy food.Many locals kn...
Went for an evening meal here - beautifully clean and obviously loved restaurant - on being asked for a recommendation for menu choices without wheat I was told that I could choose anything and the sauce would be cooked without flour - very impressed with my choice of salmon and moules, John had sirloin bouguinon and enjoyed his too. We had been recommended the house wine - but had a very nice reasonably priced graves - will save the house choice for next time! as this little restaurant is now on our favourites list
Situé dans le petit bourg de Cherval, cette nouvelle adresse devrait y amener de la vie... pour un dimanche, une formule à 16€ avec des plats simples mais bien cuisines et copieux, un cadre agréable, un accueil sympathique et chaleureux... tout va bien ! Tout juste peut on relever une certaine inertie dans le service de la première moitié du repas.... pas de quoi remettre en question cette notation ! Ah ces anglais qui aiment la France jusqu'a diffuser Edith Piaf en fond musical pendant le repas... very good !
We have eaten here twice in May, first for Sunday lunch with family, it was excellent, lots of choice, large portions, lovely food and friendly service. We were back again on Friday night with 6 of our friends, what a fantastic evening, again a good choice of dishes, I can highly recommend the Mackerel Pate, Goats cheese and onion tart and the Summer Fruits Tiramisu. We ate here in April with two friends for lunch. We had the 3 course set menu for €14pp. There was a choice of two starters, three mains and four desserts. I has Greek salad, Vegetable tagine and a Banoffee dessert, all was lovely and plentiful. Wine is good and only €10 a bottle. The inside has a lovely decor and lovely feel or you can also sit on the sunny terrace. We love this local restaurant with its friendly staff and will be back! Also no need to rush, the table is yours for lunch.
Very tasty, British portions of good French food. Good value and good service by owner and a waitress on her first night on the job. She did a good job. After discounting the goat's cheese based vegetarian option I struggled to decide which tasty main course to go for. In the end the roast salmon in white wine sauce won and I wasn't disappointed.
