Blue Comet - Reserva de mesa

I really wanted to be an enthusiastic supporter of the new management and the reboot but so far my experiences have been marginal. The atmosphere is lo-fi but not really in a good way, I had a very challenging food experience (which my friend insists was a one off because his experience has been totally opposite of mine) and the staff seems somewhat disengaged as if they are hanging with their friends at the end of the bar and occasionally checking in. To be fair the bartender last night was congenial but my general sense is that they need to create a personality for the establishment.

We planned on another restaurant the night we ended here because of long waits. We were glad we did! The staff was attentive, the service was fast, and the food was delicious! They have the average pub food but with some unique additions to the menu. The goat cheese fritters and shrimp bruschetta was amazing! My only gripe (and that's too strong a word) is the confusion of the actual name of the place. It was the Blue Comet but also the Franklin Glenside of which you'll only find that on a Facebook page that says Franklin Glendside (a 2nd D in there). Either way, I recommend it.

This is no longer the Blue Comet. They removed everything that was special about it and turned it into the most mundane, mediocre concept possible: a sports bar. If you go there, thinking to find the kitschy throwback fun place it had been, you’ll be vastly disappointed. If you’re looking for boring with lifeless unimaginative decor and food with all the usual sports stuff, today is your lucky day. Enjoy a burger you could get pretty much anywhere with a too loud sports game on tv.

The fried goat cheese fritters completely amazed me. I had a moment where I thought, who on earth created this delicious treat? Who decided to fry goat cheese and serve it with onion berry jam? It felt like a collaboration between Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg! Overall, my experience was excellent, with prompt and attentive service, and my drinks were perfect. You need to stop reading this and go try the fritters — they are absolutely fantastic! Enjoy! Reserva una mesa ahora

The experience was average. The bartender could use a bit more experience when it comes to making drinks; adding too much soda and barely a half shot of alcohol is not ideal. The order of adding alcohol before the mixers is important. The drinks were decent, but not impressive.

Garry Lee's performances are top-notch; you simply have to see them! Plus, the food and drinks are unparalleled in Glenside!
