In the past, the Blue Gecko had a reputation for quality food and service. So you can imagine my surprise when upon returning that the menu had changed from exotic dishes to what could only be described as 'Pub fare' being served at 5 star prices.As it was late December, I expected the restaurant to be full with patrons celebrating Christmas with family, friends or workmates. Instead, the few tables inside the Blue Gecko were arranged to take up the most space but by the end of the evening, there was only my party and one other with another in the outside dinning area.At the end of the night, we were told that because we were paying by credit card, there would be an additional fee to cap off...
Great service, good food. Nice bar area looking over the pool. My husband had a steak which he said was fantastic, I had the Red Emperor, which I always have here as it is always so delicious and fresh. Great wine list with most wine available by the glass, which is good for us as I like a white and my husband likes a red.
I was staying at the Mackay Resort Motel so decided to try their restaurant. I ordered an eye fillet steak and was very happy with my meal. Reasonably priced. Service was good and friendly. You can choose to eat inside the restaurant or outside beside the pool. I would eat here again.
The steak was amazing, but the packet mix sauce, although delicious, overpowered the flavor of the high-quality meat. The meal was beautifully presented, with steak cut chips that were crispy, and a fresh Greek salad lightly dressed.

I was staying here for work and was truly impressed by the high quality of the meals served at this restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was exceptional. I will definitely be returning in the future.
The menu had enough choice despite being only a small menu. The food was delicious and the seating around the pool made for a great atmosphere. Also has a well stocked bar choice which is great for a Motel restaurant.
Only stopped in for dinner but it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time, the service was great and the restaurant was quiet and intimate
good stay even though only one night . room was comfortable and even though the restaurant was not open was very helpful with connection to hotel
