Great tavern in beautiful downtown Newton that is run by the sweetest people who really care about their establishment. It's actually much larger inside than it appears from the street, too. Plenty of room for a small group. On weekends there is a small stage where bands play in the bar area. Our food, unfortunately was not the greatest. Why 4 stars then? This was a mediocre place and experience. I really wanted it to blow me out of the water, but the food didn't. I give 3.5 stars. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, as was the hostess who quickly sat us in a clean booth. This place seemed new, from the fresh paint to the decor and new seating selections. Blue Moon Tavern was a great experience. It is much larger inside than it looks from the outside. The prices were pretty cheap and anytime I can get a margarita for 6 buck and they use 1800 is a win. They have a variety of choices from southern classics to fish tacos. We started out with fried green tomatoes and fried mozzarella sticks. What a lovely, friendly neighborhood place! Located in downtown Newton, about 5 miles south of Interstate 40 on the way to Asheville, we were looking for a place for Sunday lunch and were surprised at how many places were closed. Thank goodness for the Blue Moon. Be sure to get there early because this this a really popular place for the after church crowd. I usually don't eat a lot of fried foods, but the cook who mans the fryer here really knows his stuff. My chicken fried steak was tender inside and beautifully crunchy outside. The only menu I could locate online was a beer list (we even took a photo of their food menu and uploaded it to their Yelp page), which appeared to be extensive; however, when we arrived, their selection was not as large as expected. On a positive note, I did try a porter from a North Carolina brewery that I wasn’t familiar with, and that was enjoyable.
I initially considered giving them 3 stars, attributing the poor salad to just a mistake, but the service was so disappointing that I ultimately couldn’t do it. I really wish this place was better since I find myself in the area frequently.
Charming little place in a quaint American town. I chose to sit outside on a lovely day, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere while watching Main Street go by. The town was adorning the courthouse across the street for Christmas, which added to the pleasant ambiance. The food was excellent; I ordered a mushroom and cheeseburger that was cooked perfectly and remained juicy.
This is a fantastic locally-owned restaurant situated in a historic building in downtown Newton! The food and service are excellent, and the atmosphere is delightful. They also have great music on certain nights! Don’t pass up the chance to enjoy a wonderful meal at a great price!
The Philly Cheesesteak is the !!! Full of flavor and juicy! The potato salad was very tasty too even though it is not house made.... I would totally get that again!!!

Service was alright, but the food was amazing. Food came out within about 10 minutes and tasted great. If you're a pasta fan, try theirs!
No masks by staff. We'll just not eat here any more for now. What a shame. This is so easy to fix.
