We used to live in Hobart & made a weekly visit to Blackmans Bay & have scallops, whiting & shoe string chips with chicken salt & a ginger beer at this establishment when friendly owners used to own it. We visited the Fish Bar today which is also an Indian Restaurant (mmm?). We ordered trevalla, chips & 6 scallops ($13.20) I confirmed that the scallops were small as I've noticed Hobart is lacking in small scallops & a ginger beer. $32.00 - for a takeaway. Okay just because we are only here once. When I went back in after 15 minutes to collect lunch, fish on top of chips (a bit dubious about type of fish I was given) 4 large scallops (ugh!) & standard size frozen budget chips with about 4 bit...
Ok...we're talking about a local Indian restaurant that tries to stay true to Indian cuisine and keep the price reasonable. Bottom line: my wife and I are locals who dine at this restaurant on a regular basis. With that said, its a great local restaurant with very authentic Indian meals. They don't advertise all that much and the staff are trying really hard....and that's what makes it so great. Over the past dozen or so dine-in meals, we always leave saying the food was great, out taste buds are going gang-busters, the service is genuinely sincere and its excellent value. My wife and I decided to have lunch today and wanted something unique. We stumbled upon this hidden gem. While the restaurant may not be considered upscale, the food definitely exceeded our expectations. The prices were reasonable and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Small but mighty restaurant! The menu has an extensive range of items to chose from for food and beverages. Very flavourful good and they are able to do a range of spicy from mild to hot. Everyone agreed we’d be back again and we all took their take away menu with us too!

Disappointed in the dry lamb cutlets. The beef curry was cold when served but the staff provided a new plate of edible temperature curry. We found the overall quality average, the samosa was nice. The restaurant is functionally furnished
We were recommended by the olde time portraits. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a lovely lady and from there it just improved. Food was quick and very tasty. Highly recommend to anyone travelling and want a great meal
We love our Friday night curry at Bombay on the Beach. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The survive is excellent and the food is delicious. Love the way dishes presented. A great Indian restaurant.
This was the first time that we had tried the fish and chips from what sounds like an unlikely fish and chip takeaway, they very good fish and chips cooked perfectly - well done we will be back.

What a magnificent find tucked away on the beach at Blackman's Bay. Menu was excellent, staff were fantastic we will definitely recommend them to our friends and if course we will be back????
