Looking for a good restaurant near Basel, I trusted the positive reviews and got rewarded with a very good dinner. The location is convenient: directly at the tram station and a mere ten minute ride from the city centre. Bottmingermühle embodies the typical Gasthof, offering tasty traditional food in an uncomplicated atmosphere. The restaurant is small but attracts a lot of regular guests, therefore advance booking recommended. Huge thumbs up to the waitress Suwetha: it was quite busy but she provided a friendly and smiling service throughout the evening. The menu features Swiss traditional dishes. As starter I had the soup of the day (celery soup) plain, tasty and invigorating. As main course I enjoyed a typical Swiss specialty: sliced veal liver served with rösti. Truly delicious. As sweet I indulged myself with a homemade chocolate panna cotta which was really to die for. Despite the close proximity to Basel, the bill remained pleasantly moderate for Swiss standards. It amounted to CHF62, which is very good value for money.
