We had been walking for hours in the beautiful surroundings and arrived back in Saignes in need of refreshments and a sit down.We just had a drink to start with.No welcome, dour look. As strangers and foreigners in the village we were made to feel most unwelcome.We decided despite our fatigue not to stay for lunch and to walk back to our holiday accommodation.I paid. No please and no thank you.Spoke to the owner of our apartment and he told us the previous owners were superb and the happy diners spilled out into the square. They did a roaring trade. Give this establishment a wide berth they just don't want you there. No wonder the tables are empty.Every other establishment in Saignes made us most welcome.
