Having gone to a more expensive restaurant for a couple of nights, we went here because 1) it was a nice location in the sun, 2) there might be a hope in hell of getting something vegetarian and 3) it was (relatively) inexpensive.i was actually pleasantly surprised to discover that the food that they did (mostly gallettes, crepes and croque monsieurs) was done well and served by pleasant staff. The drinks were good too, with some interesting picon cocktails. Bill for two 43 euros and I thought the quality of the food was just as good, if not better than some of the more expensive places in town.We will definitely be coming back.
Bergues itself is quiet nice tiny place.We were looking for a lunch place on our way from Lille to Westende (quite late though, around 4 PM), and this restaurant provided us with everything we wanted.Menu - not a huge diversity, mostly crepes with different filling, but very tasty (and portions are huge)!Why surprise? Because we were not expecting to find buckwheat crepes in nothern France (and in Europe in general)! :)But if you need to be 100% sure in what you are eating - learn french or use google translate :) For us it was not a problem, our limited knowledge of french allowed us to identify cheese and ham and juice :)
This part of France is frequently overlooked but there are occasional lovely towns, in this case Bergues, and within them really quite good places to eat. This is on the main square and is a great location to spend a while in the sunshine.The gallettes are huge and very filling. Extensive choice of sweet and savoury as well as crepes. Recommended.
Recently trip to France we decided to visit Bergues, though not much to do there we did have a nice simple lunch. At the creperie bretonne / cafe du nord, we choose salads and omelettes. The people who had the omelette said they were well made and very tasty. My friend

Decided to visit for a snack and have a crepe with cheese and ham, filled us up for the rest of the evening! A very nice cafe, clean and good service. Good range of beers to choose from. Well worth a visit.

Fabulous salads, and a good menu at good prices when compared to other local restaurants. Good service and a nice place to chill out and watch the world go by!

2 visits both good. Simple menu , good value and no chips..Service was quick pleasant and efficient.
