I had possibly the best piece of cake of MY LIFE here, but only after I navigated a really confusing ordering situation. There's a sit down restaurant on one side and a cafe on the other, and with my bad German, trying to understand where...to sit and how to order was super confusing.There is no English menu but the kind staff will stumble along with you to get your order. I believe the opening hours dictate what you can get when. They do seem to have non-cake foods but we could not order them when we were there. I was totally happy to have cake, and I needed it after climbing to the top of the Münster!
In the shadows of the Ulm Munster I found a small Pastry Gem! The Cafe MohrenKoepfle seems to be existing forever. I remember comming as a young boy, with my Grandparents to Ulm, we always stopped by at this Cafe. At that time in different location, but run by the same family. It is nice that the classic old recipes are still there and not only this, you always find some new creations to try. Will for sure visit again when returning to Ulm for another sweet treat!
Getting a table at the cafe is a pain in winter (summer is a bit better because of the tables outside) but they have the best cakes around. You will spend a little more than at a chain bakery but only a little more. And in return the cakes are another level of sophistication and refinement higher. Coffee is unfortunately just ok but the desserts more than make up for it!!
Were today 12. 7.2020 at Café Mohrenköpfle in Ulm in the Kramgasse. Food and services were really great. We just wanted a little snack.. Only Manko, there were expired cyclists out of the bottle. Operation immediately brought a new freshly mixed cyclist. This was not calculated as an excuse either. Fixed errors quickly and competently. I'd like to go back there.

No one is going to complain about the racist name?! Regardless if they have good cakes!! It is 2024 and this establishment is getting away with having a racist title!
Maybe the best Cafe in town. Atmosphere is undecided between tradition and modernity of the 80' but cake, tarte and icecream is outstanding.

perfect German Kaffeestunde Black Forest Cherry Cake is superb! and go for the Wibele on the way out.........
