The atmosphere and the service here is very good but the food lets it down completely. I cannot believe the number of highly rated reviews this place has scored.Bruschetta of the day was terrible. The bread was too thin and the toppings very bland.The goat cheese bites were unpleasant.The eye fillet was very disappointing. The red wine sauce was far too reduced and was tart and very unpleasant. One of our diners wondered if they had used vegemite in the sauce and didn't eat her steak. The steak itself was devoid of flavour and texture. The polenta chips were soggy and tasteless.My wife's gnocchi was well made and soft and springy. However it was let down by a tart tomato sugo and way too much cheese.The tiramisu was watery and not enjoyable.The side order order of chips and the crepe were the only descent things I ate. The little croquettes were tasty.I love good Italian food and know how it should be cooked and the food here fell very short.

Last night we thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Café Terroni. The Pasta Marinara (in white wine and garlic) is one of the best of its type I've tasted in a long time. Bravo!! Last night's special, leg of veal, was also a high-quality, tasty meal. When visiting Melbourne we always aim to treat ourselves to a meal at Café Terroni and have never been disappointed.

Love this restaurant. Traditional Italian. Excellent, friendly service. Polenta chips were excellent, the croquettes melted in the mouth and the figs - fabulous. A relaxed and comforting dinner. Oh - and the wine was a perfect match.

My husband and I have been regulars at this restaurant for many years. Love the food and the atmosphere. I have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant to friends.
