As we were not very happy with our hotel food the previous evening we decided to have our breakfast on the promenade at Zauautz. Well what a surprise!!! It was a lovely fresh morning. We found a place full of atmosphere with mostly locals enjoying the early morning fare, buying and reading newspapers to the sound of the rolling surf. The kitchen cook was very neat and tidy and the staff behind the bar were very polite and helpful as we do not speak Basque or Spanish but their English is just slightly better than our Basque. We had coffee, croissants and hot and fresh tortillas (just out of the oven). Just what the doctor ordered!!! We had the same again and it was just as good. My suggestion...
Durante nuestra visita a Zarautz, buscaba un lugar donde poder tomar un postre o alguna infusión saludable. Mi amigo quiso entrar en esta cafetería y, a pesar de mi escepticismo por su apariencia, decidí acompañarlo. Fue un acierto, ya que la manzanilla era de calidad y tenían leche desnatada para acompañar la infusión, además de ofrecernos una deliciosa galleta. La cafetería tiene un estilo rústico, un servicio cercano y amable, una higiene adecuada y una ubicación inmejorable. Opté por llevarme la infusión y me encantó el vaso en el que me la sirvieron. 100% sostenible. Son los detalles los que cuentan.
In front of the coast, in the middle of the boulevard in Zarautz... it looks like the typical tourist cheater, but the quality of the food was much better than expected. Althought you dont get anything exception, the price-quality relation in addition to the location makes the restaurant quite recommendable
Llegamos a las 11:15 AM y elegimos una mesa en la sombra que estaba reservada a partir de las 15:00, como indicaba la nota en la mesa. La manera en que nos dijeron que nos sentáramos en otro lugar y que "usáramos nuestros ojos", nos hizo decidir tomar nuestro café en otro lugar.

All of the waiters are really nice and the food is totally ok for the price it has. You can eat a 12€ menu with typical paella and more mediterranean stuff in front of the beach. Even if the menu is great, I really recommend the hamburgers. Those are huuge!
Hamburguesa y patatas fritas por 5 euros para los niños. Yo comí un bocadillo de calamares... ¡ñam, ñam! No es la comida por la que se va al País Vasco, pero está bien para comer en un día de playa. También ofrecen comidas más completas, menús fijos, etc.
Buena comida básica para 10 €. El vino incluido era razonable. Platos simples servidos con una sonrisa Sin quejas.
