This was my third and last time to obtain a meal from this establishment. It still doesn’t accept debit, cash only. The hot and sour soup was pink and visually looked un appetizing. Curried shrimp meal, well, I think dried shrimps were used. Job to find them. The establishment now has a fancy web site that gives one an impression of professionalism when it comes to producing meals . Don’t get hooked on that like I did. Entry into the restaurant is dismal and certainly makes one ask if anyone actually dines there.
I ordered Shanghai noodles, lo mein, and stir-fried veggies. The woman on the phone was really nice and suggested we try the thin noodles for the lo mein, which ended up being incredibly delicious. The owners of the restaurant were obviously very busy with orders, but they made an effort to make sure I didn't have to wait too long. I will definitely return because they have perfected the flavors of traditional Chinese cuisine.
The food was decent. The wait for the food was longer than expected (1 hour 15 mins). Also the prices on their website menu do not appear accurate. I was expecting to pay around 50$, and when our food was delivered I was told I owe 74$ if the prices have gone up, that should really be reflected on their menu I felt scammed. Food: 4 Service: 1
The lady on the phone was rude (angry tone actually), and after telling us they only take cash gives us a total that’s much higher than on the menu “that’s the pre Covid prices” by way of explanation. Sure costs have gone up but not cool not to be charging as advertised…Wasn’t the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had but not the greatest either. Reserva una mesa ahora
Awesome local staple of Almonte. Not fancy but been here for ages and the owners are truly a part of the community. When I was a teen they would literally get up at any hour of the day to cook food and deliver. My friends' parents have stories of it from when they were younger.
Some of the best restaurants are often hidden gems. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the building. Mary is amazing and the food here is incredible. I am obsessed with their chicken balls, they are so delicious and literally melt in your mouth. Highly recommend this place!
