Carlos Cantina - Reservar una mesa

I’ve been craving chicken taquitos since a dismal attempt at making them in my air fryer. I have lived in both California and Texas where I developed a taste for Mexican food. I tried a Melbourne Mexican restaurant over ten years ago and was really disappointed. Browsing the web, I discovered that there are now lots of Mexican restaurants around Melbourne. Baronia is only 20 minutes from home so I decided to give Carlos Cantina a try and I’m so glad that I did. Not only is the food authentically good, but the restaurant itself is run like a well oiled machine. Friendly, prompt service and a lovely atmosphere. I’ll be back again and again!

This hidden gem in Boronia is a fantastic choice for a night out. I savored the Vegetarian Stuffed Potatoes and a delightful Strawberry Daiquiri, while my partner enjoyed the Chicken Fajitas. We couldn't resist having dessert and opted for the Sticky Date Pudding and the Ice Cream Poncho, both of which were scrumptious. This is definitely a restaurant we will revisit whenever we crave some Mexican cuisine.

A bit disappointed with my margarita. Very light on with alcohol. The barman thought I couldn’t taste the tequila because it was sweet. The thing is I’ve had the same margarita there many times and this time it had less alcohol. No offer of a discount etc. Just told me it would better next time! Food is consistently lovely so I’ll probably give it another chance.

The tacos are delicious. The ambiance is welcoming for families. This local Mexican restaurant really satisfies that craving for authentic flavors when you're unable to travel to Mexico.

I absolutely adore this restaurant and am thrilled that it is in my neighborhood. The salsa is exceptional and the potato skins are also delicious!
