I was looking for a place to host my wife’s surprise birthday party. After doing some research, and weighing all the local options, I determined that Carpe Diem would be the best choice. I went in concerned about the surprise aspect of the party, also stressed about “hosting” and the food. Throughout the entire process from booking to follow up, everything could not have been easier and smoother. The owner Joe, personally called me to give me his cell phone number and told me, you call or text me anytime!! I didn’t know, but he was on vacation one of the times I bothered him, yet he still answered the call and made time to speak to me without rushing me. He ensured me the food would be great...

After moving to the US from the UK, a few weeks in and I was craving a decent pint of Guinness and some pub grub, and CARPE DIEM did not disappoint! The food is not only huge portions, but it's tasty, well cooked and very well presented. The venue has a warm, intimate feel to it, made even better by the warm and friendly staff. I would expect quality food and excellent service like this to cost a lot more than it did, in my opinion, this is very reasonable considering the overall excellent service and food. I wouldn't hesitate to return, and would encourage anyone in Hoboken to pay it a visit. Make sure you book in advance (quick phone call) as it does get very busy.

I stopped in on a Friday nite for dinner, the place was not busy found a high top table in the bar area. I ordered the fish chips and a drink. The fish came in a timely matter to my table, the fish was very good, breading was tasty and light. The fish was very moist, with good taste. I especiallly enjoyed the tarter sauce, light with good flavor. I had to ask a different person for a refill on my drink and additional tarter sauce. Poor service not good

Such a lovely Irish pub and restaurant. Food was delicious and was so thrilled to have a Magners. We tried the beef pasties in gravy and they were heavy but delicious. Fish and chips was cooked well. The French toast with strawberries was by far our favorite dish. It was a wonderful consistency/texture and perfect sweetness level. We’ll definitely be back for more food and drinks. AWFUL SERVICE. I visited this restaurant last weekend, eager to enjoy a burger and some drinks. We were seated within a few minutes of arriving, but then we waited over 15 minutes for anyone to come by and offer us water or take our order. After waiting that long, we decided to leave in frustration. I was really looking forward to trying this place, so I'm truly disappointed. I won’t be returning.

If I could, I'd give the service a 4.5, but since I can't, I'll round it up. The food was excellent. One of the girls working there was quite abrupt and unfriendly, giving off the impression that she resented her job or her situation in life. However, the male servers and bartender more than made up for her attitude.

The food was gooood. Very solid burger spot, and the pulled pork sandwich was on point. Our server for the night was a little rushed but I'm guessing she needed to control both inside and outside table.

Had the upstairs rented out for my father in laws 50th great bartenders and food awesome for a family event
