Había comido aquí dos veces antes, incluyendo en mis primeras vacaciones en La Palma en 2000, y regresé para almorzar en una caminata un día de enero. Hay estacionamiento cercano, y hay muchas caminatas excelentes en la zona. Me tomó 80 minutos llegar caminando desde Los Sauces, pero pasé mucho tiempo observando los pájaros, mariposas, plantas y paisajes, ¡incluyendo los grandes desfiladeros debajo de dos de los puentes de la carretera! Hay mucho espacio dentro de Casa Demitrio, pero disfruté mi almuerzo en una de las mesas afuera. I returned to Casa Dimitrio early in January 2014. The day was cooler than when I ate there last January so I sat inside the restaurant and enjoyed the warmth of the log fire. For €14.00 I had orange juice, bread, a large pork steak with papas arrugadas and mojo sauce, and a coffee. Another notable feature of my visit was that they were playing some very pleasant Spanish music with a lady singer, not too loud. This was a marked contrast to some places and, indeed, buses on La Palma where they played English music from the dire end of the spectrum. One of my two favourite areas for walking on La Palma, I strolled inland along the road from Los Sauces to Los Tilos and stopped for lunch in Casa Demitrio. For a change I had yam with mojo rojo as a starter and cabra for my main course. The latter, goat stew, was the authentic article, very tasty, albeit bony. I also had peach juice, bread and a cafe Americano. It all added up to about €15.00, which was excellent value. There is now a sign and a menu for Casa Demitrio at the car park just across the deep barranco. Ya se ha descrito mucho en las críticas anteriores. El lugar es muy bonito; situado en el bosque de Los Tilos. La comida es comida palmera muy promedio. Cabra, conejo, carne de cerdo, papas hervidas, etc. Esta crítica podría haber sido de cuatro estrellas, pero algo hizo que nuestra visita dejara un mal sabor de boca. Sin pedirlo, nos dieron una cesta con un poco de pan y cubiertos. Este pan seco no estaba incluido en la cuenta, sino en la factura... la factura solo contenía precios (sin el nombre del plato), así que no sé si esta broma nos costó 2 o 3 euros. No tuvimos ganas de discutir al respecto y no nos quejamos. Simplemente no comas el pan si no quieres pagarlo. Y ten en cuenta; no pue...
We went to the restaurant as it is the only one in the area after we'd gone for a walk in the surrounding mountains. We ordered 2 soups and then asked to share a main, something which was clearly understood by the waitress (communicated in Spanish and English). The soups we fine but we were given two portions of the latter and had to pay for it. Without being pedantic, the meat was undercooked. When we paid, they added the stale bread to the bill that we had neither ordered nor eaten. Being in a bit of a bad mood by this point, I questioned her and saved us a minute yet principled 70cent. The service is rude and the restaurant is incredibly dark and depressing in the afternoon. Don't go
A bit difficult to find from the information centre (fellow tourist pointed us in the right direction, more or less directly below), but we had an excellent quesillo here, accompanied by some very friendly and charming chaffinches, who will be very happy to help you finish any food that you cannot manage, often taking the food straight from your hand. Service was extremely friendly.

Paramos aquí para almorzar después de una caminata de 3,5 horas por el maravilloso bosque verde y viendo la cascada. El personal nos recibió cálidamente. Disfrutamos de deliciosas comidas y pasamos un buen rato con Pancho, el cuervo que estaba recogiendo comida (no solo migajas de pan). No te pierdas este lugar, es único y no es caro.
We have been here three times now. The average traditional Canarian restaurant is not so good . This is better. Make an effort to speak Spanish and be positive. The service is brusque but efficient. I recommend the rabbit. Lovely fire in winter and beautiful location.
