Warm, friendly owner who speaks excellent English if required. The menu is small but a lovely alternative to typical Perigourdine food (not as heavy) and the sturgeon on toast with horseradish is world class. Plenty of parking nearby and a small terrace if you like...to eat outside. Recommend booking for parties larger than four as it's a fairly compact place and importantly it's popular with the locals (including the Mayor) as well as the tourists which is nearly always a good sign. Great wines, many of which are regional but no typical beer or spirits last time I checked it's not a wine bar though so if you're after pub grub there are alternatives in Le Bugue. Highly recommended.

through the center of le bugue looking for lunch about 22.00 clock we were surprised how many restaurants closed at 1:30 clock (the middle of the lunchtime in my book but chai monique remains open all day. we ordered two salate nikoise. they were probably the best. we've ever eaten. fresh salad with red, yellow and green tomatoes and cartomas, green beans and of course thunfish. all with French dressing of monique this morning. monique and her personal are friendly and welcoming. in contrast to a previous comment we did not think that €16.50 per salat was expensive. but then expensiw can be a very subjective grasp. highly recommended

a beautiful discovery as we have been able to make in this beautiful region even if it is less beautiful than the corbières, but to the impossible no one is held. very beautiful and very friendly welcome by two lovers of their terroir, good products and their establishment. besides being dynamic and charming, they are also good advice. a very good time with my darling, the foie gras at the top, the very tasty tray (I had been beaver I would have eaten it too) the charming pet advised very well. to be recommended without moderation.

last visit under previous regime, when the idea was good, but has now significantly improved among new owners (since 2019, ex-Bistrot de la place in tremolat.) so rare to find a place in the opposite with flexible and friendly service, but also with high quality ingredients to create a lot of delicious light meal times, and open all afternoon. we had the gazpacho wonderful and the foie gras. standard was awarded at under 10 € per plate. also with an impressive wine list. highly recommended.

We stopped for snack lunch at this friendly looking cafeteria, which turned out not bad, and we expected to pay just for what we had ordered, which was two dishes, but in the end the bill was like for a good diner, we were charged...for every extra. I am not saying it was wrong, I just worn the fellow budget travellers.

The nice lady that runs the place is trying to do something different from the standard southwest fare while keeping a local flavour. There's a good choice of wine and light meals with high quality ingredients. A cheap set menu would be a good idea...as a simple lunch worked out pretty expensive for the region.

we have been going to moniques for several years. it has recently changed the property, but no fear, it is still a beautiful little place, beautiful selection of wines through the glass and good, fresh and tasty dishes all prepared by the owner himself.

Exceedingly long, exceedingly expensive. Don’t go. À 12ml glass of wine costs over €5 an espresso €1.5 .... a plate of reheated lentils with a teeny bit of meat floating around is €13. France has fallen !

Monique is very friendly and helpful as was the waitress. We had stopped there once before for lunch and that was also a very pleasant experience. Good selection of modestly priced wine available.
