My love affair with Indian cuisine has been longstanding and if the spark ever needed to be rekindled then it certainly flamed when we went along to new kid on the burgeoning Inglewood block, Chakra. Lady FWO, the erstwhile @winesandbooks, was invited along to sample the menu and she obligingly allowed me to accompany her to this enchanting family-run restaurant this weekend.Sonia and Kumar, the owners, morph – from a science teacher by day in her case, a hotel exec in his – in the evening into charming and gracious hosts. We went last night for our daughters 19th birthday and were treated like royalty.From the moment you walk to the entrance door the atmosphere is already set by the lamp hanging on the outside tree. The hosts and owners made you feel like they were welcoming you to their home.More importantly the food matched the service, full of fragrant taste with a sophistication of modern indian cuisine. Our waitress was lovely and attentive.Will be coming back for sure.
What impressed me most was a very unique menu! This is so unusual of an Indian restaurant. Its so brilliantly done, catering to vegans and many other dietary requirements. Kumar and Sonia are so welcoming and passionate about their food and service. Food when comes to your table makes you delighted!! Loved everything about it and will definitely be back very soon to try rest of the menu!!
we made a reservation on one of the friends' recommendation. The moment we entered, we were so pleasantly surprised by the personalized touch of their welcome. Visited this restaurant and at the time of booking over the phone and at the restaurant on the night made a point of saying my parents are vegetarian. Ordered food once again specifying vegetarians at the table. Served beef to my Hindu vegetarian parents... appalling and frankly traumatising.
Great place for a different kind of taste, to Indian food. Had a nice hot chilli beef vindaloo, yum. Nice decor and felt very welcome. Try the Lassi drink , u would not stop with one. Service between entree and main was a bit slow, but if that's my only complaint. I will be going back .
Beautiful experience ???? visited the place last week from Melbourne, love the food, gorgeous ambience ????Kumar and Sonia goes out of their way for our kids to prep food they like???? really appreciate their help with cranky kids. Must visit again soon 5 star????????????????????
We were a big group of 15 and Chakra never failed to impress with the prompt delivery of delicious meal on the table. Level of service was top notch and menu was impressive, catering gluten free as well. Absolutely love the experience and ambience too! THUMBS UP !!!!! Reserva una mesa ahora
