We have been customers there since 1991, when I was working at the UNOG (United Nations Office in Geneva). Every time we go to Europe anywhere near Geneva, we make sure we have a meal there. The distinctive dish is 'La Potence' (the Gallows), which is a small gallows in wrought iron, from which hangs a cast iron ball with spike, heated to 500 º C, the tender delicious beef cubes are skewered on the spikes and cook from the inside; the owner (Christiane) brings it to the table, pours a glass of cognac on the meat and lights it (hence the place .... from a friend from Toronto). The drippings the fall into a large bowl of great rice. There are four little cups of condiments on the tray holding the rice. Then there are the cook's (Jean-Jacques) specialties: tomato salad, crème brûlée, terrines, etc.
